“Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands.” – Isaiah 43:16
This was our church’s life-verse in 2021 during the transition of finding a new pastor. Our Transition Team, along with our Intentional Interim Pastor, led us through multiple congregational meetings to prepare for the future of Mechanicsville Baptist Church. We began reviewing our proud history and discussed what we felt was still relevant today. We then moved on to creating our Mission and Vision Statements. The Church discussed how we would meet our goals by examining our strengths and opportunities. The important decision to be a congregationally-led church and discussion of the type of pastor we wanted led us to choose our Pastor Search Team. All the while, we prayed. We prayed for God to show us what HE wanted for our church. We prayed for the right Pastor to lead us into the future. HE taught us patience. While our Pastor Search Team worked diligently, the church membership began to restructure our teams. We chose a Leadership Team to work on church policies. A Ministry Team was chosen to support the activities of the church. These two teams, along with our Deacons, were ready for our new pastor! In April of 2024, the church called Dr. Gary Threatt to serve as Pastor of Mechanicsville Baptist Church. Our road through the desert is over! God has provided something brand new, and we want to share it with you!
As part of our rebranding, we have a new logo to go with our mission statement. We will be updating our office, our vestibule, and our Family Life Center. We want our visitors to feel welcomed and to get to know who we are! Keep checking our website and our social media pages for more updates! We are a new creation! “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! – 2 Corinthians 5:17
